Blue Bowl with Oranges (14x10 watercolor)

I can't believe how long it's been since I posted anything! Guess I've been busy painting. This painting won first place in the Charlotte Artists Society 2014 members show, and honorable mention in the Matthews Artists Guild Spring Show.

I just finished this - my goal was to make those pears glow! I will be entering this painting in the upcoming Matthews Alive Art Show, which begins Labor Day weekend.

Crystal Bowl with Apples  14x10 Watercolor
It's been awhile since I've posted anything on my blog - I guess I've been having too much fun on Facebook! This painting is currently on exhibit at the McDowell Arts Center in Matthews, along with another of my works. Both of them received awards in the recent Matthews Artist Guild competition, and will be on display until May 31, 2013.

Mother's Dish  14x10 Watercolor
This dish is full of memories for me and my sisters.  Mother brought it out on holidays and special occasions, used mostly for pickles or olives.  How many times did we wash and dry it, then put it carefully back in the china cabinet!  The objects I painted in the dish are in honor of my mother, whose given name was Daisy Pearle.

White Daisy

Daisy 11x11 watercolor

Just finished this one - and painting all that white has left me somewhat snow-blinded!  But nevertheless it was fun exploring all the different colors on the white petals.

Red Apples

Red Apples  14 x 10   Watercolor

I love to enlarge small everyday items - like apples - because it gives me a chance to get lost in the detail.  The patterns and colors of nature's creations are truly amazing when seen up close.

An Exercise in Black and White

White and Black 14x10 Watercolor
By putting warm light on one side and a cool light on the other, a whole range of colors appeared although all three items were white. Fun!
